Hi,
I am scheduled to see Dr. Michael Lim a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins this Thursday, January 30. I am I chose him over Dr. Casey because he was on my insurance plan and Dr. Casey was not on the plan. I was wondering if anyone has seen him and could share your experience with me.
I have seen 3 other neurologists and one neurosurgeon. Each neurosurgeon has told me I have TN and two of the neurologists and the neurosurgeon has also told me I have TN plus hemifacial neuralgia. I currently am taking 150 mg. of Topomax. I have tried Tegretol, Neuronton, Lyrica and the other medications, but they had too many side effects. Topomax also has lots of cognitive side effects. My pain levels are not constant, but the electrical shock like feelings never go away.
One of the worse things for me is that whatever is going on affects my speech. My tongue feels fat and my gums hurt. I have chronic pain in other areas that have nothing to do with TN--at least I think that is the case. I was also told I need to have a MRI-F or MRI protocol I think it is called so hopefully I can have one done there.
Red has already told me he is a good surgeon. I was just hoping someone else had been to see him.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Linda
