Good Sydney TN doctors?

Hi all,

I've just turned 20 and have been suffering from TN for 1.5yrs now. My current doctor in canberra is not sure what treatments to try me on next as nothing seems to be working or I have a bad reaction to the drugs and my treatment is complicated by the fact that I'm epileptic also. I was just wondering if anyone knows any good doctors up in Sydney for treating TN ( and maybe epilepsy too). I'm sick of living like this and need help soon!!

Above, in the doctors tab, scroll down,… After canada, below that,

Two recommended in Sydney !

Hi Maggie. I put a recommendation under the doctors tab for Dr Mark Dexter who works at Westmead private and public hospitals, including the children’s hospital. He is also the medical advisor for the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association of Australia. He did my MVD in January last year. He does about 50 or more mvd surgeries a year. He is very experienced with mvd’s, and is a softly spoken and very reassuring doctor. I was in hospital for 8 days, and he would come to see all of his patients every day (except Sunday!). He operates from Westmead private, which is also where his consulting rooms are. Good luck with your decision. I hope you do what is right for you.

Hi Gen,

Thankyou for your reply. My doc here in canberra has just sent off a referral to Dr Mark Dexter, so fingers crossed! Just wondering, but at what point did you decide to have the MVD??? how many meds did you try?? I'm only 20 and none of the meds so far have worked and alot of them clash with the medication I take for my epilepsy. Im just not sure what I should do now?? My family and friends find it hard to understand....
