Getting a cavity filled on the TN side?

I believe I have a cavity in my back lower tooth on the TN side as the tooth has been aching slightly for about a week.

The dentist poked around at that tooth a few months ago as he thought it might be a cavity, and when he did, it triggered tingling along my lip on the same side, which is the TN side. So now I am of course all freaked out about having a cavity filled in that tooth.

If this is a cavity, are there any special precautions or changes in procedure that need to be done? I'm scared to get it filled in fear that it will trigger the TN or make it much worse.

I can't have epinephrin so when they fill cavities they use something else, I'm not sure what it is, but it's not as strong as what they use on most people.

I am going to the dentist for some work on Monday.

I have procrastinated for a long time, and the time has come!

Here is what the dentist is doing for me:

I have a prescription with 2 Valium tablets. I have to take one on Sunday night, and then take the second one an hour before my appointment.

He said this is his "routine" plan for patients with TN.

Then, he will start the "gas" on my before even giving me any novacaine. He said the gas would help me relax.

I am nervous, because the lower branch is my really bad spot. But like I said, I can't wait anymore. In fact, I think I've made the situation worse by putting it off for so long!

I hope the Valium helps...

I think I'll take my Vicodin with me, too!

Good luck.
