Expensive B vitamins!

Dear all, I was wondering if anyone had tried any of the neuropathy vitamin formulas you can buy in America for people with nerve problems? I am on a health kick and am going to try going gluten free for a few months but also saw these vitamins advertised and there are so many testimonials. They sound a bit over the top and they cost $44 dollars for a months supply. Apparently they are better absorbed than normal vitamins and they have stuff in them that rebuilds nerves? Has anyone tried them? :)

no but would be interested in them.

No, but I have started taking the Nature Made Balanced B-100. My gynecologist (don't laugh) told me to take B1 (thiamin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 & B12 and this has them all. He has actually heard about TN and said those 4 vitamins are good for nerve health. I started taking them, stopped sleeping on my TN side, & sleeping on a softer pillow. So far so good! I haven't had any break-through pain yet! I am so happy and feeling good. But it stays in the back of my mind all the time because I am scared it's going to come back. PTSD I guess. Try the ones I take............much, much cheaper!

I had vitamin B shots - no help at all.

I take a b vit complex along with fish oil hard to tell if its helping

I take sublingual B12, magnesium and vitamin C (flu season is starting...). I noticed increased appetite when I started with B12. I have had less pain over the last week but it's hard to tell if it's the vitamins, my recent surgery or just a coincidence...My mum swears by B vitamins to help cure almost anything, then again, she's never had a nerve pain.

mmm, i take a the various b vitamins rolled into one tablet. I was perscribed it after my b vitamins were low , i think because of taking tegretol.I cant honestly say if i notice a difference. I had an operation a while ago and so some areas of my mouth became numb but i was told by the surgeon that over time it would probably go back to normal so perhaps that is just nature and time doing there job as some areas have a little feeling again some months on.so, yes, i take them..basically :)!

I heard to much vitamin b of any kind can actually cause nerve pain. Make sure you need them. Have blood tested to see if you levels are low. Too much of anything is not good.

B-12 protects the mylen sheath and makes for very healthy nerves -- you can't take too much - but you should stay within reason of the lable information-- I take it for this - and to give me energy

My neurologist tested my vitamin levels when I first started going there & I was low in B12 even though I was taking a supplement, and my B6 tested very high. (I was taking a supplement for it as well) Come to find out taking the added B6 was making my pain worse. I was also informed that folks with an allergy to milk are often unable to absorb B12 correctly. I now take monthly injections, after taking them weekly for 6 weeks or so to build back up my “reserves”. At the very end of that weekly dosing time, though, the shot seemed to aggravate my nerve pain. So, I do believe that excessive amount can make nerve pain worse. Also, it’s 's helped my memory tremendously.

I have been taking a combined B vitamin, regularly over the summer when my TN was better, and had tailed off a bit lately (keep forgetting) and am having breakthrough pain increasing in the last few weeks. So, it may be coincidence, but I've gone and taken one right now - and I'm going to set a reminder on my phone like I have for my TN medication cos I never miss one of those!
