Ok, so tonight my DH called at the the pharmacy for my Neurontin aka Gabapentin. The assistant advised him to tell me to speak to my prescriber about an alternative as they were struggling to source my meds and have been for a while.
Well we all know these drugs are not like swapping an aspirin for an ibuprofen. They need titration up and down. It cannot be done overnight. My other worry is that most of the other TN meds have not been that successful for me.
Has anyone else been told this about Neurontin? Is it just the UK, just my pharmacy or is it worldwide?
Wow, let us know what you find out…could affect a lot of patients
Thank you ladies for your replies. I Googled it and it seems at least a UK problem. MS patients are very worried as are of course TN and people with Epilepsy. I may have to contact my member of parliament for his advice.
I haven't had troubles yet but get my prescription filled at one of the warehouse clubs (they are in UK, too).
Thank you, just researched that and medications are not available at our warehouse club here

Oh Jackie, I hope this gets resolved soon…and it doesn’t affect you.
(( hugs )) Mimi
Wow I didn't have any problems when I was on it. That's scary.
Right now I'm searching for a pharmacy to fill my 15mg oxycontin as the walgreens I usually fill them at said it's a rare dosage and they don't stock it and don't think very many places do. They all stock 10mg and 20mg but not 15mg.
Isn't lyrica in the same family as gabapentin? Wonder if your doctor could switch you if that's more prevalent.
Yes, it's my neuro's plan B, but as gab works so well, I had not wanted to risk a swap unless absolutely necessary. Drat!
And why did your Dr prescribe a rare dosage? Maybe because that's the dose which works for you I guess. Why do we have to be so darned awkward :-)

This is one of the issues that is frightening to people in the USA about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and how it may affect us in the future
