Does it ever end?

I just had my MVD on 3/14/14. Since then I have been in the hospital 2more times and also had another surgery. After the initial surgery I have not had any TN pain which is awesome. Right after surgery I noticed some swollen places on my head and my headaches were unbearable so I was readmitted back into the hospital for a few days and they figured it was all of the pain meds causing rebound headaches. Home again, still have some swollen parts on my head, got my staples out at 3 weeks and was just dealing with the tiredness and the swelling. Then the CSF leak came. Back into the hospital on Thursday night. CSF repair on Friday, 4 weeks exactly since original surgery. My dr said he was taking some belly fat to repair the leak but it wouldn’t be as bad as the original surgery. It wasn’t. For that I was thankful. Went home with more staples only to wake up to another kind of leak. Monday I was put back in the hospital with what I thought was another CSF leak out of the dang staple hole again to it being just a leak of blood mixed with belly fat stuff. I am so done. The nice thing from this stay has been the loss of headaches. I don’t miss them. I just want this drainage to stop. I am back home but I am still draining. Anyone else out there experience this type of drainage? Any ideas how to get it to stop. I am really upset that all the complications I have had has taken away my ability to celebrate the loss of TN pain. :c)

Frances. I’m so sorry to hear of all the complications you’ve encountered after MVD…you’re definitely not the only one …hopefully some members will reply who can relate.
Just wanted to send you some ((( hugs ))) and positive thoughts for smooth sailing from now on! Rest, rest and I hope you start feeling better soon!

i had that too sort of, they took the plate out and i healed right up. i dont like that i dont have anything hard covering my brain right there, but it is a trade off i can live with

wow, that must be quite frustrating and scarey for you. i hope you are on the path to healing now. i wish you many pain free days ahead.

What a difficult road you have traveled. I too endured an MVD, but I was lucky enough to be complication free. Unfortunately it only helped a little for my ATN pain. I am so happy you are pain free. It is amazing what a person can endure. You will NEVER take even one pain free moment for granted.
