Does anyone know how to handle the wind. I just get a slight breeze on my face and it starts to burn

I am newly diagnosed and so glad that I found this site. Its hard to understand ATN myself let alone try to explain to others. I have read all I can about it. I am an outdoors kind of woman but now I have to be inside unless I want to feel like someone is burning a hole in my face. Is there anything anyone has tried like a scarf etc so that I can do something outside again!! Thanks for your response

Some members get relief from the protection offered by a soft wool scarf or a cold-weather face mask. Others swear by the temporary relief offered from topical Lidocaine creams.

I am in the same boat :frowning:
The wind really affects my ear aches. I have tried cotton in the ear, ear muffs, scarfs too. Nothing really helps. I even have the nerve stimulatior & that only helps minimally.
You have my sympathy.
Best of luck, Kim

I wear a beanie to bead and one night it was really bad and my husband gave me a hot water bottle and I layed my head on it and it really helped. when im out I carry a crochet scarf to cover my face and a wide crochet head band to cover my ear.

I have the Jackie O style down. My scarf collection is large and beautiful.

Wow! that sounds just like me. I work from home, trying to build a small business, and something similar with the neighbor was said to me. Cheryle thanks for your post.

Just tried walking to the mailbox using a scarf and my neighbor would come home at the same time and joke that I was becoming a Muslim, it helped a little but already my ear and my mouth and nose are just aching and the headache just came back, ugh. I really do not want to have to be home all the time. I am blessed that I work from home. So how do you deal with the realization that your life has changed immensely. I am still trying to figure that out. Thank God I have faith, don't know where I would be without it. Thanks all!!

Hi I'm outdoors nut too - so heaps of scarves, hoodies and big gorgeous hats - you'll work out what works for you best. I find I do layers. Always have sunnies as I'm light sensitive and wind sensitive in the eyes - so got a few really nice pairs that don't sit on the cheeks but provide protection, Then I use scarfs, softer the better. I like a soft brushed cotton or superfine merino, cause I hate itchy wool and then a hoody or coat, and / or hat. There's a fashion discussion you may find useful too..
