I was researching TN after I was diagnosed, and it seemed like it is usually on the right side. Mine is on the left side, but I am getting signs of TN on the right side now as well.
I am so glad I found this support group. My fiancé has chronic neck and back pain, but he doesn’t understand my constant pain.
Thank you everyone for the support I was looking for. Have a great day!
Susan
Hi Susan
Mine started on the left. A year later the right started hurting. Bilateral isn’t as rare as most drs think. I’m glad you found us too but I’m sorry you are here.
Jane
Hi Jane-Thank you letting me know about yours being on the left as well. I am sorry that you have TN as well.
Hi Susan. I, too, have leftsided TN. I had surgery to kill nerves on that side in 2003, was good for 2 years, then began getting them on the right also. I now take marinol with good results. The treatments get better, meds are available, and surgery helps too. Depends on how bad the pain is to how we go about treating it. I was taking 17 pills a day before surgery, and only 3 pills a day now. Is the pain better controled? yes, but I seem to handle it better over the years. Hope this helps
Hi Kevin-thank you for sharing your story with me. I will talk to my doctor about my treatment plan. Sounds like the surgery worked for you. I would love to cut down on my meds. I take eight Gabapentin and two Tegretol a day along with all the other meds I take for all my other ailments.
Hi Cindy-thank you for your comment. I don’t know why my internet search said it was on the right side and no mention of the left. I thought I was alone until I found this support online.
Mine is on the left side as well.
Hi Shadow2: Thank you for sharing with me. All my research on the internet said that TN is typically on the right side. I thought I was abnormal. I’m learning on this support site that I am not. I hope that you can get your pain under control. I’m having a bad flare-up now as well. I think the cool weather we are having is triggering the pain.
