well i used to have facial pain before the onset of bells palsy. After the palsy it only aggravated. Also i hv read in some website that Bells palsy can cause TN . so it can happen any way BP->tn or TN->BP. its very complex

Hi Elaine,

I have the same problem too, even for well known places and names.

I mentioned it to my doctor and he said it's a combination of age and the medication.

You might be suffering from the same complications.

If you notice that you are doing some other unusual things, like forgetting where you were going it might be form the same cause.

Hey Ciaran,

I agree the fogginess might be from the meds but I'm not ready to blame it on age yet. I'm only 40!
Thank goodness I live in a small town. If I get lost, someone will feel free to tell me where to go~ ha ha.

Have a beautiful day Ciaran,

Elaine

My short and sassy replies are...LOL!

My seemingly arrogant responses are often the result of my personal experiences with Trigeminal Neuralgia, as I have always been rather witty and obnoxious.

My drooling occurs only during an attack that just happens when I need to be swallowing. I have a marvelous friend (with an excellent attitude) who has Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy, this will eventually kill her.

Drooling for whatever reason is not particularly pleasant.

The current issue of Neurology Now has this article,

Jon, I wish you'd teach me how to post links as you do: ) Take care, bob

Elaine, could the speech problems be due to your medication? As a senior citizen I'm well used to forgetting names and words [I once lost croissant for 3 days]. However at the moment I seem much worse than usual. I put it down to amitriptyline; I'm coming off it but am down to 30mg at the moment. The list of side effects mentions confusion, especially in the elderly.

I do know that a lot of TN drugs slow down all of the nerve impulses in the body, including the brain, so that would include thinking as well as speech. I wouldn't worry too much; check your drug[s] leaflet[s] and mention it to your doctor next time you go. x

Thanks Pat! My only question is "where the heck do you hide a croissant for three days?"

This thread is so amusing and making me feel great that I'm not the only lost one out there!
