I've noticed that most consultants in the UK, if the pain is under control, will ask you to slowly reduce the medication with a eye to coming off totally if you are in remission. Is this the same in the US?
Im worried that if i am lucky enough to be in remission, if the pain starts again, it will take weeks to build up the level of Carbamazapine needed to help with the pain. At the moment im on 900mg daily. This has happened to me once before.
I am from UK and I have to say in defense of my neuro she has asked me to stay on my Carbamazepine all the time regardless of being in remission or active.
Your latter paragraph is why she recommends I do not come off, if I want to I can lower the dose very slowly.
thanks for your reply. I was just wondering what medication you are on at the moment and the dosage?
