Carbamazepine and pragnancy

Hello ,
My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby… but am concerned that my meds may have a negative effect on unborn baby.any advice would be great

Carbamazepine is considered teratogenic, which means it has been associated with harm to a developing fetus. This might have to do with its ability to deplete folic acid. Vigorous folic acid supplementation is essential. And of course, you should discuss the risks/benefits with your doctor.

I've had a specialist tell me that he's had several patients have successful pregnancies while taking carbamazepine, but it's not something he can officially recommend.
