Suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia?
Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is an extremely severe facial pain that tends to come and go unpredictably in sudden shock-like attacks. Medical researchers are working to discover new treatment options for this type of pain.
Doctors in UK (London, Liverpool and Norwich), Denmark (Glostrup), Germany (Essen) and Italy (Rome and Genoa) are currently conducting a medical research study. We are also waiting for approval to start the study in Switzerland and South Africa.
This study will evaluate a new drug to see if it may help relieve the symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia. You may qualify to be a part of this study if you
Have been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia
Your pain is not well controlled
You are willing to change your medications
You are male or female and between 18 and 80 years of age.
You weigh more or equal to 50kg if you are male, and more or equal to 45kg if you are female.
Participants will be asked to come to any of the above three centres up to 10 times, though the treatment will involve participants taking the drug at home (when they are not in the centre) for 49 days. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
For further information about the study please contact one of the research nurses listed below. If you think you are suitable and would like to participate , please ask your family doctor or dentist to refer you to one of the sites mentioned below (note that you will not be obligated to participate in the study).
