That's awesome, sounds like a fun project :)
I've always wanted to make a tshirt quilt because I have a lot of old shirts I don't want to throw away, but don't wear any more!
Do you have any suggestions for resources? Like a good website or web article on how to make the tshirt quilt?
A wonderful idea about the buddy system. How is your project going? I love sewing but I do not any sewing projects going on right now. I do have a temporary project with raising 3 little feral kittens. They are so cute but I am not a good kitty mom. Trying my best with them. I had contacted some feral cat agencies but they could not take them.
I love it!, great idea, I am just trying to motivate myself to get my bills done...yuk. I have been trying to get back into my needlepoint and painting..I think this would be a great idea!

This is a great idea! I'm trying to finish university, I only have the final exams left but I keep postponing because sometimes I haven't got the energy to do the dishes let alone study when I get home from work. So yep, I'm definitely in!

Hi I'm in the same boat! I work full-time and am taking graduate courses. My worst attack that finally ended up with me finding out about TN was a few days before the last week of our class. My professor said to focus on my health and gave me an extension until August.
I haven't taken my final or written my final paper yet, I just can't get myself to even work on them :P I think I probably missed the boat entirely on the final weeks' discussion board points too.

The link above is the one for instructions I followed for mine. Oh, how fun it would be to work on one of these with someone. Mine is about half done. Best of luck with your t shirt quilt.
I love cats, but it takes a real talent to raise feral kittens. You have a special calling.

Keep looking at your projects. You will get to them. I’m hoping that by not taking on other projects besides about three at any given time, I will get at least one done. What do you do to motivate yourselfto get projects going?

Oh, wow, I really understand! Let the dishes go…study for the final exam. With only one exam to go, I wish you all the best of luck. - Laurel

Thanks for the initial responses for the buddy system. Anyone who would like to be my friend is welcome to request it. This subject probably works better on a one to one basis. After all, our pain and levels of motivation are so varied, what works for one may not work for another. Thanks everyone who responded to this discussion. I really appreciate your thoughts. -Laurel
Love the t-shirt idea, I have a ton of Nascar shirts that are signed by all the drivers, I would love to make a quilt for my family room of these, will look into it and maybe bust out my sewing machine that is collecting dust!

Ooh thanks for the link. Wow I didn't realize it took so many shirts to make a quilt. I'll have to gather mine up and count them :)

Projects - I remember those. I always had a couple going on at a time. Right now I only get excited if I get to spend all day in bed. I do have a few I need to get started. It is my oldest son's senior year of high school and I want to make a few things for him.
I made tshirt quilt a few years ago and it was fun but it ended up SO huge. I made my own pattern and wow it weighted a ton.
My hubby requested A lap sized one. The look on his face when he saw the squares of his favorite memories was priceless. When it is finished I’ll try to post a picture of it.

Nascar t-shirts signed and everything! Can’t wait to see it if you get it made. As a wall hanging, you could make the quilt triangular or some kind of interesting shape for the wall - even the shape of a nascar! If I tried something like that it would never get done. The use of my brain alone would put me out of commission before the thing even formulated into a plan. But the picture in my mind of what you can do is fantastic!

Oh my goodness!!! This is exactly what I need! I/we have so many projects started but none finished!! I have beautiful lower kitchen cabinets but all the ugly old uppers are still in, nasty carpet to be pulled up, closets to be sorted, walls to be torn down, sewing projects, blah blah blah!! I TRULY NEED A BUDDY TO ENCOURAGE ME TO STAY FOCUSED AND JUST ASK HOW IT'S GOING!!! Thank you Notafraid!!! count me in! Love the sewing projects, cats,(just got 6 kittens that are so vary sweet!), university exams (suppose to finish my degree), gardening Thank you!! blessings~~
Well, you do have lots of projects going. One main focus at a time is how my husband gets things done. Do you find that you are going along just fine , then a tn attack comes along and causes you to lose motivation to work on your project? This happens to me so often! Then, there are the times all I want to do is sit or lay watching Netflix. Pain is literally a drag. Hey, shepherdgirl, let me know how you come along on those projects.

UPDATE ! Very soon I will post a picture of the finished tshirt quilt. What a lesson in recognizing how medications cause lack of motivation. There have been days when I just looked at it from the couch as if it were a cloud passing by. Lol! Right now It is under my sewing machine foot with the thread poised to plunge into the layers of material for yet another row of machine quilting. Will this be the day I finish quilting it? My activities for today are to be decided by the spinning wheel of motivation. Oh, how long it has been since I could plan which activities I would do for the day! Now my life is a crazy quilt of activities evolving around how I feel physically and mentally. I miss the formerly organized me, but getting to know this newly redeveloping creative part of me, which is currently marblizing a lack of motivation with artistic endeavor, is like becoming a whole new human being. I will laugh more often and cry less for who once was, but is no longer.
