Breakthrough pain

My wife is taking 600 mg of Oxtellar XR. The medication makes her real nauseous and groggy. She has episodes of breakout pain, where we’ve had to go to the emergency room and try to get some relief there. The Oxteller (oxcarbazepine) does not help with the pain. The neurologist has not given her anything for when she has extreme pain what can we do.

Lidocaine face patches , put it over the pain--- call your dr. and tell him to call these into the pharmacy NOW.

If she has pain in the mouth - lidociane mouthwash. There is also a med you can get prescription that lessens the nausea, but MOST TN meds make us groggy.

and perhaps get a NEW doctor who has extensive TN knowledge.!!!

Sometimes you have to drive further. Sometimes you have to try more than one med.

I am going to give you a list, and you can take to pharmacist, or a doctor to see which meds will have what side effects.

The more you learn, the less pain she will have!
