Bilateral now?

I have TN1 and TN2 on my right side. The past month, my pain has significantly increased due to weather changes. This is the third year in a row that Fall is a bad time for me. Anyway, the last couple of weeks, I have been getting twinges on my left side, not really painful enough to call electric shocks but still uncomfortable. Yesterday, I was having a lot of pain in my forehead and it seemed to spread to the left side, just as painful on both sides. Does this sound like Bilateral TN to y'all? Does it usually start as one sided and turn into Bilateral? I think if it is turning into bilateral, I think I will completely lose it!!! One side of this junk is bad enough; I don't know if I can handle both sides. HELP!!

Hi Karen, I had twinges before I became bi-lateral. Now that I am there is difference. I have ear pain now and jaw pain and shocks in my face. The twinges were more like tooth issues and lip issues for me. But I, like you wondered. So I get what you mean if that was where it was headed. I became bi-lateral early this year when I had a shot in the back on my mouth for dental work for crown on the very back lower tooth. It caused severe shocking at the time and went downhill since...Just my take hope you're not.

I just became bilateral as well....first signs were twinges in my right side off and on...I tried to ignore them thinking "this can't be happening on my right side as well!" then I also went to have some dental work done and as the freezing needles went in I was having a shocking sensation in my eye and ear....which I have never had before. Two days later I was in full blown pain on both sides. I am having a really hard time dealing with this new reality. The doctor increased my tegretol but it still is not doing the trick...I am eating ibrpofen like candy....Not nice!!!

I am sorry to hear that Barberchick.... :((((( It's been 8 months for me now. Not a fun road to travel. Amitritipyline came in handy for me. I take Trileptal as well. But I had jaw and ear pain as a result of mine and burning chin pain. Now I am having shocks. So more TN I symptoms. Do you take anything else?

Just 600mgs of tegretol and some ibprofren. Have you been reffered to a neurologist? I am still with my family doc...I wish he would send me on to someone that deals with this all of the time...he said i am the first on in five years that he has treated with this.

Yes, I have been with my neurologist for 5 years now. It's really good to have one that has experience with TN patients. They work in the same group and the same building, so it's nice because any notes are pulled up on the same computer. :)
