Hi Sluggo, I had Gamma knife done on 2-29-08. It worked for three years, I was free from the intense sharp burning pain. Then it returned this past May 2011. It was not as bad when it returned, but then I had some dental work done in January of 2012.. So now I am bilateral. That's a whole different story. But the procedure was not too bad. I was on 1000mg of neurontin at the time and I was working full time, couldn't take the pain anymore. My neurosurgeon didn't feel good about outcome but said he would do it. I have ATN type II. I had a type I attack on 12-25-07 which is what led up to me going to the neurosurgeon. When I went to see him he tested me with pins and I was told I had lost sensation in my 7th and 8th cranial nerves. I still wonder if that TN I shock is what did that, or if it was a result of the constant pain I had for 2 years up until that point. After the surgery I was able to wean off the med pretty quickly.
