Pain is controlled, but I’m tired constantly. I’m taking carbamazepine and gabapentin. Tired even after 9-10 hours a sleep at night.
PLUS my memory is crap! I feel like an idiot having a conversation with people, can’t recall names or words I want to use. It’s so frustrating! Do I try to play with meds or just deal? Ugh.
Hi Joanna314,
I hear what you are saying. The meds are often to be blamed for sure but I find pain completely exhausting too. I work full time and I don't know how I do it sometimes. It's very frustrating. I find I have a great deal of difficulty concentrating too. A person can only handle so much at once.

I think this condition and the meds we take for it takes the zip out of our bodies generally. I'm tired too. I just plug along and tell myself, "What I want to do tonight will be there tomorrow night."
My TN1 is in check with MVD
But i have chronic fatigue syndrome now for two years.
Neurologist gave me small dose of ritalin on days i have to get going!
I wish i would have had it when on TN meds!
When in pain with TN… I relied heavily on lidocaine face patches.
Helped me get some food down…and lessened my pain greatly.
I have to nap in the middle of the day, every day for an hour and a half.I am on extended release carbamazepine or commonly know as oxtellar. I have no more break thru pain, but in exchange I am a zombie. I used to have a photographic memory, now… I am an blithering fool. But, I am happy for the lack of pain, and I prefer to be a commoner.
