Almost A Year

Next week will mark a year since I had MVD. What a year it has been! I have my life back. The numbness and tingling in my face is slowly subsiding. I have not had any pain since the day of the surgery. I am finally allowing myself to hope I will be pain free from here on out. What a blessing this has been for me and my family. I hope by posting my progress and meeting with other's from this site, I can help. TN robbed me of my life for 8 long years. If I can help answer questions or supprot other's, than it will be worth it.

Thank you to those who have been supportive and willing to answer questions for me through this. You know who you are. This site has some wonderful people.

Congrats on the 1 yr. Hope your pain is gone forever.

Hi Bobbie!! my name is Delia and had the surgery 2 months ago... I'm still filling strange things....let me tell u a few tihings about my TN.. the pain started about a year ago just a little tingle now and then and began taking Lyrica and it went away the doctor said that I was very stressed ....then in in january of this year it started again , the doctor said it was TN and I went crazy because my grandma, aunt and mother have it...I read about it and it said that it was't hereditary, and now I have it....well from then on it progress from a tingle to a horrible pain like electrical shocks, I went into treatment and nothing work the pain was getting stronger and often...I couldn't eat, shower or brush my teeth ( I had it above my left eye brow all the way to the top of my head). the doctor said that the only thing that would help was surgery and like I said it was two months ago....I feel much better with each passing day but the tingling and the little strange thing its not pain but I feel something strange I don't know how to describe it the doc said that it was normal and that it will go away...... question how long did it take for u to feel 100% and what do the doctors tell u about how long will u be free of pain...I have been reading a lot about it and every time I get more confuse and afraid that this horrible thing will come back....thank u for your time and I hope u can help me...thanks ..Delia

Delia, When I woke from sugery, I couldn't feel the right side of my face, mouth or tongue. If you touched my right ear, I would feel it on the left side of my head. My taste buds were messed up too. But I didn't have pain. It took about 2 months for me to feel mostly normal but I would still come home and nap after work. By 5 months I could get through my day at a normal pace. A few months ago I realized I could feel the insdie of my mouth. I still have a numbness and tingel but I can feel it. I can now feel my right ear. My face is numb on the surface but I can feel under the skin. Its all strange but I believe over time I will get most of the feeling back. I doubt I will get it all back. I had Gamma Knife done the year before so there is some damage to the nerves from scarring. I think that is why I have these tingelings. I hope this helps. If I havn't answered a question, just e-mail me. I check the site every few days.
