Had severe allergic reaction to trileptal and had to stop taking increased my gabapentin from 2400 mg to 3600 mg and he changed my antidepressent to from prozac to cymbalta it is not working only have been on this dose for a couple of days no talking liquid diet only with a lot of pain
Guys I need help can not take tegretol, trileptal and gabapentin not working anyone been in this situation before and what drugs did you try next working on getting surgery scheduled but in mean time I need something
Maybe you can call your doctor and ask he or she to give you a pain reliever for breakthru pain until the Gabapentin starts working better. It may be that it is taking awhile to build up in your system. There are also other anti depressants for mouth pain ..amitriptyline and nortriptyline.. they are known to help with type 2 burning type pain. Hope that helps... :-/
Generic names of medications used in treating epilepsy (effective meds used in TN are antiseizures), please consult your doctor, perhaps you could switch to something from this list excluding carbamazepine (Tegretol), oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) and eslicarbazepine (as you are allergic to Trileptal/oxcarbazepine).
Also, there's increased risk of depression after gabapentin (and you are additionally taking antidepressant Cymbalta).
