I have had microvascular decompression and glycerol injection each of which lasted about a year. I also had gamma ray which helped some but did not completely get rid of pain. Is this normal?
Sherley, I'm nor sure there is any normal with TN, but sadly, sometimes relief is temporary from procedures. How are you doing?
After posting this I had another procedure in which they opened up my skull and clipped the trgeminal nerve. I am numb on the right side of my face but at least I have no more pain. I am still getting use to brushing my teeth, chewing, and even some dizziness when walking. Thank you so much for asking.
Sherley
May your relief from pain be long lasting, Sherley. I am so glad the procedure helped. :)
Thank you very much.
Hi Sherley,
The TN nerve was actually severed? I thought that procedure led to Anastasia Dolorosa 24x 7 pain. Am I correct?
Glad to hear you are doing much better.
Thanks.
Sergio
I am not sure what Anastasia Dolorosa is but the surgery I had is like micro vascular decompression with the exception they separate the 3 nerves associated with the trgeminal nerve and cut the one that is giving pain. In my case it made the right side of my face numb and not just the lower right side. I think it is still better than all the pain I was in before. I am now pain free.
