I started my second dose of 50 mg of Topamax 3 weeks ago. I liked the medication due to its ability to free up my jaw, and lessen facial discomfort, until now. My gums and lower lip are really burning quite frequently. I am 8 weeks out from my MVD. Numbness around that lip is bothering me too. Ugh. Any thoughts. Has any one else had this side effect? Looked it up , and it does exists out there. See surgeon on Friday. May need to jump ship on this one. Oh and a wormy sensation in that area too. Universe find us a cure! Did you switch meds right after your MVD? I had troubles with Topomax, too. I couldn't stand it and quit after 9 days but mine could have been the rapid decrease of Gabapentin at the same time. I got unbearable electrical feeling all over my body, feeling of a rubber band snapping my face, nerve jumping, couldn't sleep, all out miserable.
Does the surgeon think you will be able to go off meds eventually?
