Hi Everyone,
I am a new member here but, unfortunately, not new to TN. I want to focus on one idea for this discussion then another topic for another discussion so please be patient with me...lots of information was acquired recently.
A close friend of mine(DP) has TN and went to a neurologist who specializes in TN. This doctor just so happens to be in the same 'group/practice' as my neurologist. DP's neurologist prescribed a compound topical cream that is 'mixed' by a company called "DermaTran". It is compounded for each individual using medications that are appropriate for the patient. DP indicated that it worked but stopped using it due to oral medication change which was helping with his flare-up. I just had it prescribed and made, ready to go out within 24-48 hours. I will let all know if it works or not and I will know...I'm having one of the worst flare-ups ever...pain and duration (nearly 3 months and pain always with eating and speaking as well as during the night, which NEVER occurred before.)
My neurologist never mentioned the cream, as if she didn't know about it. The ingredients include oral medications used for TN plus 'other' medications that are also prescribed orally. I will pass on the compound information when I receive the cream.
Maybe this will at least help...
Prudence
