TN and MS?

So, my first discussion question and post. By the way, thanks for all the welcoming messages! I was diagnosed w/ TN back in March...after many misdiagnoses of sinus infection, inner ear, etc. I'm 34 and have been a Type I diabetic since age 7. My diabetes is under great control. However, I've been experiencing extreme pain in my legs for a few years now...not all the time. I can walk a couple miles and be fine or I can walk up a flight of steps and have to sit down because it hurts so bad. I also get extremely tired and can get extremely confused from time to time---the first thing I do is check my blood sugars and they are fine. So it's not a high/low blood reading. This is also when my TN REALLY acts up. It is episodic---could be for a day or two every couple weeks or will not happen for several weeks. When it does, I feel like total crap (to put it politely in case there are young readers). I've done some research on-line (I know, should not trust the internet but the sources are directly from medical schools!) and it appears as if the symptoms may be pointing in the direction of multiple sclerosis. I just met with my diabetic Dr. Friday and she seems to think so as well. My creatine kinase reading was 262--normal is between 24 and 204. I see my neurologist again in a week and a half.

Just curious if others have experienced the same thing(s).

THANKS! Nicholas

you can click and find the MS group and read up on there - to post just click "Join"

What journeys and paths we don't expect here..... we must walk them with hope anyway!

Hi! I guess I should have said this in my earlier post. TN seems to be a common side effect of MS. Was curious if individuals on here Have MS w/ TN has side effect.

My dad has TN and MS. I have TN with the same symptoms you are talking about (leg pain, feeling really bad all over). I have had multiple MRIs and they say I dont have MS. I have an EEG today to look at possible seizure activity. My neuro says the TN and leg pain, weakness, odd sensations arent related. I know that they are. Please let me know what you find out.

Let me know what the EEG shows up. I'll definitely let you know what I find out on my end! GOOD LUCK!
