Something New

Went to the Dr the other day for pain in my left arm. Turns out I have carpal tunnel as well as TN. My nerves must be a mess… Lol… Here is the interesting part. The Dr prescribed I take a baby aspirin once a day as well as wear an arm brace. Didnt think much of it but my TN pain has gotten less over the past few weeks. It still hurts but not like it did. The only major change I have made chemically is those baby aspirins. Still in the experimental phase but wondering if they could be helping? I know BA are supposed to thin out your blood some could that be a factor to this mess? Thoughts?

I've never heard of baby aspirin being prescribed for carpal tunnel but that's besides the fact. What aspirin does isn't "thin the blood" but inhibit production clotting factors so a blood clot doesn't form. Two of the clotting factors aspirin inhibits plays a role in constricting and relaxing smooth muscles, which can be found in blood vessels, like arteries.

I can see it possibly helping if the artery pressing on the TN is no longer expanding and contracting as much as it was and hence not causing as much irritation to the nerve. Aspirin can also have an analgesic effect, though I'm not sure 81 mg would help much in that area.

Hi Mitch, I also have both and will try the baby aspirin and report back to you in a few weeks.
