Have you had issues with your significant other? How did you/they deal with your TN? I am concerned that if I cannot work I will lose my fiance. She cries because of the pain she see's me go through and may have second thoughts....I am also feeling insecure due to this.
Hi DannyJ!
Knowledge, communication and love!
I know how much this pain sucks and how frustrating it is for significant others to understand. My husband still gets frustrated from time to time but what we’ve found helps is him knowing what the heck i have! He’s gone to a few Neuro appointments with me so he can better understand TN & ask questions. I purchased the book “Striking Back”, he’ll look through it once and awhile, he also does some research online. We have very good communication and he knows I may have to back out of a an engagement last minute.
Hope this helps some. I wish you the best and hope you start feeling better soon! ~Erica
Both learn all you can…find THE BEST neurologist for TN
and find a consult with THE BEST TN neurosurgeon …
Even if you have to drive a couple hours from your town…
Look at the doctors tab above
Call tomorrow and ask regular doc to call in for you 1 or more of these for instant relief for many:
Lidocaine face patches
Lidocaine cream
Lidocaine mouthwash
Both of you read these …

There is hope!
Are you candidate for MVD. Surgery?
I did it …no pain now…got my life back!
It was hard on my brand new hubby to see me in pain…I got the diagnosis one year before married…I had the same feelings as you…the meds almost ruined my life… So I had surgery.
All significant others will all act or feel than others on here… Some handle it well, some do not.
Keep posting!
I agree with all above, understanding what you have is key, never easy to accept or understand, but the more known the better. My hubby has been pretty understanding, I have had for many years. He became permanetly disabed and unable to work at the age of 48, very unexpected. He has stuck with me through TN, I will stick with him through all this, thats what true love is. No relationship is perfect, but commuication and understanding strengthen love. I hope you and your fiance can do this together. I know his support for me with TN has truly helped and I support him the best I can. Let us know how you are doing.

Knowledge is what helps my husband. He reads and tries to learn as much as he can. He has also joined a support group. He will join our group this weekend. That way he’ll also be supported and be able to ask questions from others going through the same thing.
This crazy & unpredictable nightmare really needs teamwork to keep all of us sane!
My thoughts are with you
