This is great to hear Tiffanie! So glad for you!! Hope to hear the rest of your recovery goes as well. Please keep us posted.
Today is two weeks since my MVD!! Still no TN pain! This week I feel much stronger, still taking it easy, but able to get through the day without a nap. And have been going with my Mom on little “field trips”! I am a little anxious about reducing the meds. Hopefully I can start soon, and hopefully I will remain pain free. As far as post-op symptoms, really not bad at all. Ache at incision site, controlled pretty well with Advil. Ear popping on surgrery side like my own personal altitude was adjusting! Echo in the other ear was distracting. And a bit of balance issue. My neck is a bit sore beneath the incision. And there are a few numb places around the incision. All was “normal” and forecasted for several weeks, but is already decreasing.
Today I celebrated by relaxing at the pool ! Was great to do normal things!
Friday the staples come out. Dr Casey wanted them instead if sutures due to traveling. It hasn’t been bad. Feel kinda “Mad Max and the Thunderdome” ! Ha ha ha! But will definitely have more neck mobility when they are out.
If anyone has questions, feel free to ask, or send me a msg.
I hope that everyone can have good outcomes with their MVD’s !
Pain free peace to you all–
Tiffanie
Here I am, almost one month after surgery!! So far, so good-- only positive things! I have been weaning off meds, and by 7/18, I will be free of those little yellow pills!!! I have had random tingles in my “old” pain spot. The surgical side affects, numbness, tenderness has been improving. I really almost feel 100%. Still taking it easy, though. Just started doing yoga at home, and walks. Seem to have some insomnia issues, so I am hoping excersise will help.
Overall, I am thrilled with my MVD, and even though I am kicking my self for not doing it earlier, I feel that the technology and advances have probally improved the whole procedure, so the timing was good!
Can I say it one more time? Dr. Casey in Trenton , MI is amazing!!! It was worth the trip. An experienced Dr makes all the difference.
Good luck to all you Pain Warriors! I hope that everyone can have a positive outcome!

I am so happy for you Tiffanie! So glad it seems to have worked. At first, it was actually weird for me NOT to feel pain or have to take a bunch of pills. LOL But I got used to it very quickly. Hahaha. I'm a little over 8 months post MVD and still doing good. Off of all my daily TN meds. I get occasional cheek, eye, nostril and tooth pain, but it's not often and it's tolerable since I'm not in pain 24/7.
Keep taking it easy though. You're only 1 month post op. Don't do too much even though you're feeling good. I ended up hurting my neck about a month and a half post op because I was feeling good and lifted something too heavy. The neurosurgeon was kind but scolded me for it. Told me to take it easier. :)
Thanks Ihold!!
No pills is definitely cool!! Today I took my last Carbamazepine !!! Yahooo!
I’m still taking it easy, opting for lower activity. I still have minor insomnia issues, and I’m hoping that will balance out soon!! Only a whisper of a zing-sensation at random times, but not daily, so I’m not getting worried!! Everything is still healing.
I hope that you continue to feel better with each week!
Take care! Tiffanie
Tiff, thrilled you are done with those pills!! That’s amazing!!!
Yay Tiffanie! This is a cause for celebration for sure!! Other than insomnia, what else have you noticed about reducing and now being off drugs? Has your memory improved? Less distracted/fogginess? I remember taking an herbal supplement for sleep prior to being on these meds but as I've told my doctor, I've never slept better since being on these meds (the absolute only good thing about them).
