I think Ravit meant neuropathy; I still can't distinguish clearly between neuropathy and atypical TN though. I think a certain part of my trigeminal nerve is damaged from infection and surgeries, which I would call neuropathy (I expect if someone took a look at the nerve they would find injured/abnormal tissue), but my neuro calls it ATN.

My pain started in a tooth overnight ill never forget it because it was a distinct shocking pain in the tooth i happened to already need a root canal on that tooth so I went ahead with one ...my pain got worse after the root canal even with antibiotics so I had the tooth removed Only to have another issue with another tooth months later that led to more dental work before someone mentioned tn to me. I am unsure If the initial pain I had was tn. But like i said the shocking pain in the tooth was unforgettable
