Occipital, Trigeminal, Glossopharyngeal all at the same time?

Good morning,

Is it possible to have all of these at the same time? The symptoms have all came on within about 6 months or so.

Also, has anyone every experienced pain in the back of the head, and forehead when turning a certain way or walking? It sometimes happens if I hit a small bump in the road? Weird?

Any help would be appreciated?

I am a Tn type 1 & 2 sufferer plus I have occipital pain too. I've just had a TN nerve block and a block to the occipital nerve too. Horrible.

So sorry to hear you’re dealing with all of that at the same time! Ugh! I too, have TN , ON, & am dealing with pain around the eye. Mine started around the eye due to LOTS of eye surgeries… Not sure about the waking part… But, my pain specialist said that ultimately, the eye socket nerves, trigeninal nerves, & occipital nerves all ultimately “plug in” at the same place in the brain… Imagine that! Those are related. (Hope this makes sense-on heavy pain meds)

Yes the doctor at the pain clinic treats all these different pains as tn.

I too have all three. I thought it all fell under TN ( and it probably does) but as I’m learning more about this I see there is a difference in the three areas. I’ve had worsening TN for years and just diagnosed last January. At that time I also started having ear jabs and throat pain. For the last 3 days I’m having worsening pain on the side of my head , neck and eyes. I don’t think I can handle much more medication. Plus. I have to function at work. After seeing this post I realized that it’s the occipital nerve that’s causing the symptoms on the side of my head and neck. I’ll ask my neurologist about it at my next appt.

The question is, why? I’m healthy otherwise. Why do I and otherwise healthy people have this terrible pain? I’d like to know how many of us on here who are otherwise healthy have all three.

Keeping my chin up and remaining positive.

Hi Helen~ What type of nerve block? Did it help? Does it cause any numbness in your face afterwards? Thank you.

No I’ve had no numbness. This first block hasn’t worked. Its depressing. I do think of myself as healthy other than this. I have always since a child suffered with ear and throat pain. X
