Jane7 hello I’m still not being heard about my stinging head pain MRI shows two blocked small blood vessels I’m now on Tegretol but has only made it less excutiating pain now switched to right of head and back of head I did have a road traffic accident many years ago .96 or 98 pains started 2004 but neurologist and GP doesn’t think this is the cause I’m having breaks from pain 4/5 weeks and I’m fed up with them I just want to be heard and helped
The trigeminal nerve complex extends to as low as the forth cervical vertebra, google it, hence physical therapy can potentially play a part.
Jane7, I don’t know about dismissing the traffic accident. One of the first diagnosis questions my nuero asked me was if I had EVER hit my head EVER, any whiplash, and so on. Length of time from then to now did not seem to be a factor. I was left with the impression that something in the past could have done minor damage to the sheath around the nerve and since that protective sheath either doesn’t heal or heals so slowly it can cause problems years later.
In my case the assumption is 30 years of chronic migraine damaged the nerve but the damage didn’t present as ATN until 10 years ago – 20 years into the migraines.
Hello, I know that this is an old message, I hope that you have gotten the answers you were looking for. I have both, the TN was treated with MVD and I have an occipital neurostimulator implanted with electrodes above and below my right eye.
