Hi all! I was diagnosed with TN back in March. Am on Carbamazepine and Lyrica. The pain itself started under my left eye near my cheek. The meds have certainly helped the pain under my eye but now I'm experiencing new pain about two inches above my temple right near the hair line--same side as the pain under my eye. It is sometimes a stabbing pain but it is always there. Even the slightest touch makes the entire left side of my face extremely sore. I can't wear a hat anymore at all. It is so sore to even wash my hair as I really can't even touch that area. Is this normal? Is this just something that gets worse with time---do you think the Dr. will up my meds so hopefully the pain will subside? Any comment/help is much appreciated as I do not go back to the Dr. until late September!
Call in - See if you can get an Rx for Lidocaine topical cream or patches. If your doctor does up the dose - relief won't be immediate. If he doesn't up the dose over the phone - consider a new doctor!
