My TN really getting me down

I have been having accapunture for 6 weeks now was really helping me, I am on Lyrica, Oxycontin,

Cymbalta. I also take high dose of vitamin B. The last 4 days have been just unbearable any suggestions.?

Hello,

I'm new to the forum but thought I'd reply. Can you call your doctor and ask to try different drugs? Maybe the ones you are taking just don't work for you? What type of TN do you suffer from? I take amitriptyline and it works really well..But I have Atypical Odontalgia...There are more experienced people on here that can add their knowledge so I know you will get more responses soon..I hope you feel better...

Hi Jenny
Sorry to hear that your in so much pain. There are so many various combos of medications to try. When TN grabs on , I know its just horrific. Sometimes no matter what we do or try just decides not to work anylonger. Thats the nature of this beast. There are things you might like moist heat. I use a moist heating pad every nite . It helps a timy bit but anything at this point. Have you discussed any surgical options at this point with your doctor? Have you had surgery. There are so many resourses available on this website that will direct you to other sites too. We certainly all know what you are feeling in and out of remission. Fall and Spring seem to be the times that the monster likes to shiw its head. Research has shown this, they do not know why. Are you finding this? Some have it all the time everday. I tell my doctor yes I start in Spring and restart in the Fall. So yes all year round. You could also give your doctor a call if the pain becomes unbearable also go to the ER let them know you are in pain crisi with your TN. Try your doctor first we all know how the ER can be. Let us know hkw you make out and keep us posted. Hang in there Jenny although its hard.
My Best
Joanne

Hi. I'm sorry you are in acute pain right now so will make this short. Acupuncture needs to be augmented by the use of a hand bike at least in my case. Twice a week is enough; maybe even once a week. Also, to treat any infectious organisms setting up house in your Trigeminal nerve, take food grade Hydrogen Peroxide starting with one drop in a glass of water and building up to 15 to 25 drops once a day in water. I am pain free with this regimen. I take no medicines for TN and hope this will help you.

If you would like a shot at immediate relief -- have your doctor - any doctor - call you in prescription lidocaine patches if you have insurance -- if not -- the lidocaine cream is almost as good..... just put it where it hurts!
