Any advise on what might have caused my neuralgia?
My story is on my profile.
All I know is that dentists don't exactly get a good rap amongst most of us. Think back to when you first had symptoms and see if dental work was done around that time.
Most TN Is idiopathic

If it is the implant that is causing the pain then I am making a case medical negligence. I was there many times and he said nothing is wrong. I had to find my own way to get to a neuralogist.
I will do that.
get a 3-D x-ray and a second opinion. Mine is a direct result of a root canal. I don't have TN. Saw Dr. Casey on Tuesday he said I have facial nerve damage. OS diagnosed me with TN. 2 and 3 opinions are a must. I live in Memphis and went to Trenton, MI to see Dr. Casey with medical records in hand. Surgery is not an option for me -can't fix it and could cause more problems. Good luck. Keep us updated.
Thank you Southerngal. I am currently seeing lots of specialists. I am on the trail of my cause. Reading your story makes me angry. Hope you sue the ENT and OS.
Yes I too had dental visits right around the time of my first attack, it's so depressing.... no one wants dental appointments and to be left with this debilitating disease is disgusting. Actually when I think about it I had some extensive dental work done and now I'm frightened to go back. This is new to me and all these questions /comments sound like you guys are all talking about me... so comforting to know I'm not doing this alone also, not to say that I'm not frightened though.
I am 21 and have had trigeminal neuralgia for over a year now. I had mvd surgery in December and it worked for about 2 1/2 months but then it came back. I am seeing so many doctors. Recently I had a doctor ask if anyone in my family has had trigeminal neuralgia and I said no. He said that the hole in my head where the trigeminal nerve and blood vessel run through together is probably incredibly small which is what might have caused this. The surgeon said he found my nerve hitting my blood vessel so he put a Teflon pad between the two but I’m still in pain. This was the first time a doctor had told me about the hole being extremely small. But no one real knows why I have this. It’s very rare to get this at my age so everyone has a different guess if they even believe I had it. A lot of doctors just dismiss my case. I just thought I would share what I’ve been told.
Suing the restaurant. In Tennessee the restaurant is liable for damages - any and all- caused including botched dental work. My attorney advised that suing any medical professionals would not be advisable since the restaurant is liable. Basically, the endo and both oral surgeons get off with out even a slap on the hand. Ugh! I have Trigeminal nerve injury/damage. The doctors will group this in with trigeminal neuralgia. It's been a year and thankfully mine hasn't moved - isolated to my maxillary only. Insurance company has refused to do implants- they deem it cosmetic. Policy says they will pay for implants (dental) after they review other options. I can't wear a flipper or have a bridge because it will cause more damage to my nerve injury. Ugh! Can't afford the implants... waiting on settlement which could go on for three years.

I think if dental work was done, it would be safe to assume something might have been triggered from that. In my husbands case, we just don't know though years earlier he had a very bad whiplash car accident and perhaps the residual of that trauma created the problem. Here's the thing, his sister has reported having facial and mouth pain now too. So it's freakishly weird that they both have this.
