Thanks for the great feedback on the time frames both for the MVD as well as recovery. I know I will be going in approx 6 - 8 weeks max. It makes one stress (if you are a worry-wart) about all things that need doing prior ie getting house organized, prepared meals in the freezer, dog in kennel, etc.
I would like to have certain things done ahead of time as hubby does not have a wide range of cooking short of eggs and hamburgs. Okay he does a good steak. My meds right now are not keeping the pain away. I feel like a slug as far as energy goes. With pain I feel I have no gain (things I should be doing but just can’t right now). My son was talking to his one friend about my upcoming MVD. He remembers when they were teens that they could not even come into the house due to my “headaches”. That was about 20 years ago and I used to go to the hospital almost once a week for Demoral shots which put me right out for a full day. Later I went to the Migraine Foundation of Canada where the doctor turned out to be the man who invented Imitrex. I took injections and pills for a few years. After that between seeing my dentist sometimes a few times a week for tooth pain and treating me for TMJ. Next I went to an ears/nose/throat doctor who took a C-scan and told me I should see a neurologist. That was when my family doctor started me on Tegretol. That was back in 2002. It has been a long painful process so I am really looking forward to this as my gamma only lasted about 7 months since last year.

Juliet. You stay on your meds until after. The procedures be it gamma or a MVD is after. It would be most unkind to do it prior.

You guys that have had an MVD, have any of you had clear MRI results yet they found things to fix when you had the MVD? The only thing that worries me is they will go in and find nothing on the nerve since my MRIs were fine.
I had one last Tuesday. 5 hours including prep. The prep is actually an hour and a half. Positioning, head frame, anesthesia, I had 3 Iv’s. One Arterial, 1 in my ankle, and 1 run of the mill in the wrist. After the prep my husband was notified they were ready to begin. I went in at 7:40, came out at 1:10. But the wonderful thing is you are totally unaware. Everything is done while you are peacefully asleep. So no worries. You will wake up all put together. You will go off to recovery. It’s a journey. But all of this is. Right? All will be well.
