I am looking for anyone who has had successful results with either of these surgeries
My MVD was on January 20, 2009.
It took almost 4 weeks before I could say it has been successful. I have severely atypical TN and the surgeon was not as optimistic as usual that it would work for me. But he stressed that the MVD was the best option as it didn’t destroy the nerve…vs the Gamma knife which does.

I had gamma knife surgery nine months ago. I can’t say that it was sucessful. I continue to have pain, and I’m still on medication. Currently I’m taking 2400mg of trileptal, and recently had to add 30mg of baclofen daily. I had to stop taking the baclofen, as it, in combination with the trileptal made me so tired, that I thought that I would fall to the floor. I don’t know what my next move is, but I have to don something.
