Ms

It’s hard to be young and have TN…I have to get tested every six months for MS…I was hospitalized back in February for a week…I was lucky I didn’t die…they had me on a Demerol drip for a week…that’s how much pain I was in…I just hate this disease!!!

Not all TN patients get tested for MS, Mindy. Was there some particular reason why your medical care providers have chosen to do with you?

Well, they ran a few tests and things didn’t look quite right…and my doctors said if you’re my age/younger and are diagnosed with it you have a higher risk of developing MS down the line.

This will be the first time I've ever heard of an age-related association between early TN diagnosis and later MS development. I would suspect that we may be dealing with the consequences of an artifact here. By that I mean that some MS patients show face pain earlier than they do the other core muscle weakness and general neuritis symptoms. But the face pain can be "symptomatic" TN rather than the TN due to non-MS causes.

Are you on meds for either or both TN and MS?
