I just found this website explaining how one set of doctors use a method with a scope and a small hole to do the microvascular decompression surgery, at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.
It seems as though it would have fewer complications and would heal much faster. Here's the site: http://bit.ly/lWLB8A
If you have already decided to have MVD surgery, this seems the best way. It truly is a serious decision, and all the facts and experiences of other MVD patients on this site should be considered.
Best wishes,
Sheila
what an excellent site. explains everything very well. excited to hear more from them. thanks for posting.
You're welcome Melissa.
I wish ALL MVDs were done this way. There are fewer risks, complications, smaller incision, fast healing time! The old way seems barbaric after seeing this new method.
Sheila,
I just reviewed the site for 3-D endoscopy which helped educate me on the fact that it is the least invasive surgical procedure. Great information. I agree that our MRI's we had must have been old equipment that was so noisy it traumatized us! Onr hour of sitting still in the chamber is more than most people can bear. I can use this information when I attend my consultation later this month. Thanks for the great information.
Sincerely,
Jim
you're welcome Jim. I hope we can get EVERY MVD surgeon to do it this new way, and not the damaging and barbaric way it is done now. After hearing/reading about so many people's terrible side affects after the surgery, I would fly to wherever this method is being done just to avoid life long complications.
Best wishes, Sheila
