My Kadian rhythm is off, but I know this is because I now stay at home. I do not know if it has anything to do with Methadone. I do know that I am going to start tonight forcing myself to go to bed early and doing my first dose when I wake, rather than waiting as late in the day as I can, so that the effects will last well until my children go to bed.
I'm going to try to force myself to go to bed at 10 p.m., like my teenager. We will see how that goes.
Please keep me posted on how the Methadone is working for your pain.
I've had to have a dose increase. My doctor didn't seem pleased with that AT ALL! Of course, I'm not either.
Still, I have to say that I've tried sooooooooooo many things in the course of these 8 years to feel better, to combat this pain. Methadone has provided the best relief thus far. I'm not giving it up, if I can help it!
Please keep us informed of how this is working for you. My PM doc says it is one of the best opoids for Neuro pain.
I had my PM f/u last week and the Methadone is helping alot. I am so pleased. I have been on it for about 2 weeks now. It is helping and the nausea and vomitting has subsided.
Although, I am having a hard time with the sleep schedule. I find it so hard to keep my eyes open sometimes that I literally have to lay down and sleep. I am up and down off and on through out the night. It seems like I just can't get a "normal" sleep schedule like before. I used to go to bed between 1 and 2am and was up between 9 and 10am. Now I am lucky to be awake by 11:30am and I am ready for a nap around 3ish. I can dose off and on all evening because I am just to the point my eyes feel like they are so heavy. If I actually go to bed like I did the other night it was 9:30, I was up at 12:30am and was wide awake until 5am went back to bed and got up at 10am. I had a decent day that day but the sleeping is throwing me off completely.
I feel so disheveled. I find it very hard to get anything constructive done. I am hoping that this will settle down as I complete adjust to the medication. I am keeping my fingers crossed anyways. I am trying very hard to get back my regular routine. It is just a struggle as I am sure you are well aware.
I have been on the Methadone for 2 months now. My liver functions were very high so the doctor decreased my Tegretol. BOO!! It has been 3 weeks now and I am having some pretty rough days again. I just had my redraw so I am hoping the doctor will increase my Tegretol back to where it was. The Methadone has helped in the fact that the attacks were not nearly as severe as before. I am still on the 5 mg twice a day.
Here is my dilemma though, I do not wake up the same time everyday or go to bed the same time; I am having trouble with taking the Methadone 12 hours apart. I have to take the Methadone at least 3 hours before my sleeping pill or I will literally be up all night. I am usually in bed by 2-3am and up between 10-12. Then I have days where I am just so exhausted that I am in bed by midnight and up between 8-9am.
I know it is important to take the methadone at the same time everyday but I need some helpful suggestions for dosing times. Any ideas?
