Is it normal not to be able to function or think when taking Trilepal?

First off I just want to state that I have found much comfort and knowledge by read your shared thoughts and experiences, THANK YOU.....to which is why I am now writing.

I saw my neurologist due to my pain becoming unmanagable with Lyrica and tramadol by themselves. He took me off depakote (used when needed for my migraines) and upped my Lyrica along with giving me Trilepal to take daily. I think I am on my 3rd week of taking it and I am a walking zombie. I can't think. I have a slight headache all the time and can't walk upright for more than 1/2 hour before I am exhausted. Is this normal? I do have to admit the pain level has gone down and there are hours when I have none....but I can't work, can't keep a thought in my head and want to sleep. Has anyone else experience this....and does it get better? I am not truly complaining as I would rather be a zombie than be in is this kind of pain.

I do hope all of you are having a pain free/less day!

Dianna,
I take trileptal. It has caused me sleepiness, memory problems and confusion and I sometimes stagger or lose my balance. I am also really tired. My neuro and surgeon are very surprised at how well I do function. They said I should be really drunk. But so far I have managed. I don’t think I am as sleepy or tired now as I used to be but my memory and confusion are much worse. But you may very well learn to tolerate the side effects and the side effects may improve. I am still really embarrassed by my memory problems which are mostly short term problems. That is why I am considering surgery again. But I am glad your pain is better.
