I am now on 2700mg of Gabapentin a day and it seems to be working. I did initially have blurry vision when I first upped the Gabapentin but that has resolved.
Since I started the Gabapentin a couple years ago at 1200mg I have had a little trouble finding words some days - for instance, it takes me a minute or so to remember the name of a movie. I still have that but it has not worsened with the higher dose of Gabapentin.
Hopefully your fogginess will go away once your system gets use to the Gabapentin.
I am so glad you do not have it. I had an MRI and targeted MRI for the trigeminal nerve. I found out there is some looping near trigeminal nerve that my neurologist will discuss with me when I see him. I Googled it and it sounds like I might have some compression. Blessings, barbiedollstars. I don’t come here often as I am in a lot of pain.
Hi Pacey
How is it going now?
I am glad the gabapentin is helping you.So glad.
Funny how we dream of less pain days or even minutes
or seconds.
Neurologist appointment next week.I don’t know what he will suggest now.I think I have gone through all the drugs.
Maybe he has a new trick up his sleeve.
Enjoy the break from the pain
Good to hear from you. I am hoping the higher dose of Gabapentin keeps working. It is such a relief to have some days without pain. I am able to get things done.
I hope the neurologist can come up with something for you. Is this the first time you have seen a neurologist?
Hi i was taking the highest dose of gabapentin each day and i sometimes had blurry vision but it could have been from the baclofen but i had uncomfortable side effects the main one being weight gain. I gained over 60 pounds in a year and i was fatigued all the time and i was still in pain. I was started on Lyrica last June and i only take 150mg 3 times a day and it really does help. I don’t have as many side effects because of the lower dosage but still having weight gain. If anyone is unhappy about the high dosage of gabapentin and the side effects i suggest asking for Lyrica instead. It really helps.
Hi, I have atn, but when I read about eye issues I wanted to respond. Last year I was put on clindamycin for a gum infection. The day after starting I had eye floaters that I never before had, within 10 days I had a detached retina and major surgery. So if you ever have bluriness that doesn’t go away or new floaters from a drug please get it checked out. Some of these drugs can weaken the eye muscles.
If your blurry vision has not ended please contact your doctor. I’ve been on 3600mg of Gabapentin for three years. I don’t remember having that side affect. However I couldn’t handle 900mg of oxcarbazepine. I talked to my neurologist and we dropped it back down to 600mg. I still have some balance issues and I think it’s from that. I have been on so many pharmacitical drugs and none seem to give much relief. I’ve had the best relief from a high dose of CBD along with a low amount of THC. I live in a medical Marijuana state and I finally decided to give it a go. I’ve found if any Canibus I use doesn’t have close to a 1:1 ratio it’s not worth it as I’ve no desire to be high. I really prefer a ratio of 3:1 CBD to THC. I also want to try the peppermint essential oils as I’ve heard there is a lot of relief in that. I hope you find something that gives you relief without too many problems.
