I took 1800 mg of Gabapentin and nothing. Dr says its to small a dose. He wants 3600 mg and I can’t. I have a job where I can’t be a zombie. Does this work in higher doses betterr?
hello, i wanted to comment, because of my history with this drug. Started with 1,200 mg of Gabapentin and slowly increased because of pain. The doctor kept increasing the medicine until I was taking 4,000mg of gaba a day. At the time, I was trying to work and drive home. It was awful, I felt drunk. I could not work and take that much gaba., had to take less when i worked, or I could hardly talk. Gabapentin finally stopped working for me as an effective drug and switched to lyrica. The side effects of these drugs make it so difficult to concentrate and function. best wishes for the relief you seek, stay strong and keep the hope.
Thank you. I don’t have to take that much gabapentin. my doctor decided to put me on trileptal instead of all the gaba. So I’m hoping this helps. I have a friend who used to take this much and told me I’d be a zombie
Ask for Tegretol and start at 100 mg. Everybody has to keep trying different things. Baclofen is for bedtime. You can lose your balance. Lyrica makes us fat but can add that top off to get pain below 5. Good luck!
Gabapentin is a shit of a drug, ask your Doctor to swap it for epilim, try that, its far gentler. Gabapentin has more side effects than the english dictionary, get off it. Do buy yourself some GABA it will enable you to have a much smaller dose of Epilim, but will enhance its action, thereby giving you back your brain and sense of aliveness. Also drink lots of fluid and try and find an Australian product called HiVita, its vitamins, minerals, amina acids and herbs in a nice tasting liquid. A lot of pain can be caused through inadequate nutrients. So even though we eat well, your body needs more nutrient, I have found the pain stopped with it, as still as it sounds it true.
I must accentuate GABA, IS NOT GABAPENTIN. GABA IS NATURAL AND WILL NOT INTERACT ADVERSELY WITH OTHER DRUGS AND WENT SENT YOU OUT OF YOUR TREE.
A word of caution. Everyone reacts differently to meds! I love gabapentin and achieved excellent pain control on 300mg…100 in morn 200 at bed. Could it be your dose is too high? I started at 100 once a day and increased it by 100 every two weeks until it worked for me. Sometimes too high a dose is worse than too low.
I go as high as 2400 and nothing. The tegretol I took was great I take it with elavil and it decreased the elavil now on tripital the elavil is stronger and I hate that. The elavil now hurts. I was thinking lyrica but I still worry about my weight. I gained 23 lbs and have lost 19 on the meds. I work out 3 hours and drink water. I don’t know. The gabapentin does not touch the sting
I actually only retain fluid on it. I’ll check out the gaba and mention that Med to my doc
I did 50 mg of tegretol and worked like magic. He took me off it and put me on tripital. That helps. I’m taking 150 mg of tegretol
I will tell you up front, your Doctor will not have a clue about the GABA, he will think you are talking about Gabapentin and they are opposite ends of the spectrum, one has so many side effects and adverse reactions (Gabapentin) while the other (GABA)has none at all and wont interact badly with anything. So don’t let him say no to something that will actually help you, that he knows nothing about.
Nursey, EVERYTHING has side effects. There’s no way to support such a blanket statement that something you take won’t interact badly with anything, it depends on the person trying it.
