OMGoooooodness… I was left kinda stunned… Well he went through my medical history, then my TN history, then meds, side effects, then triggers, then neuro tests, he said yes, You have TN… Said what he wanted to change about meds… Asked about how TN was affecting my life (this was when I cried!) then I thought this is coming to a conclusion… Then he said my meds aren’t working for me, that I needed other interventions, so I started on about I was having acupuncture and osteo… He said no he meant medical procedures as in numbing injections, balloon compression or MVD… He said I needed MRI to confirm no other cause (MS or tumor) asap,and recommended MVD as best option, then rang a neurosurgeon while I sat there, and booked an appt for me with him for next Tues! OMG! I was kinda stunned… This consult had gone beyond what I was expecting… He said the consult had progressed rapidly, because he felt that despite being on the right drugs, the benefits in terms of TN pain was outweighed by side effects and loss of quality of life… I was still having flares and ongoing pain… Reckoned he didn’t normally ring neurosurgeon during consult but wanted to get the wheels turning… The sooner I get MVD the better my outcomes… Hmmm… Didn’t know what to say… Left feeling stunned… Had been listened to, and understood, but not quite prepared for that…hmmm… Need to think about things…
Wow…so happy for you. Lots of things to consider!! But you were heard and taken seriously .It’s reassuring to know good doctors are still out there way to go

Will keep you posted re neurosurgeon… I have changed to the big kahuna neuro guy, so have to wait to see him until March 9th… Give me time to get my head around it a bit more…

MVD should make at least the TN 1 better! Did for me.

Yes, I couldn’t believe how quickly this is all moving along… Kinda quick, but hoping that means less damage has occurred, so hopefully a better outcome… Praying it all goes in a positive direction, whatever that may be…
