I recently came across two devices, “P-Stim” and “AccuStim” being used in veterans (& others) with chronic pain. saw these at a military medical conference; was wondering if anyone has experience with them.
when I told the crew of my diagnosis, I got them to let me try the P-Stim & it helped me quite a bit. but it’s a single-use disposable, so I could only wear it for four days. i plan to talk with my pain doc about it. anyone else used these devices?
never heard of these but willing to try anything to help with the pain
What a shame that it is designed as disposable when it is to be used for chronic pain - somehow oxymoronic....I would love to hear more about it.

i assume the disposable device is an attempt to avoid a permanent surgical implant, and thus lower cost &less risk. the risk of wearing greater than four days would presumably be increased risk of infection or growth of skin over the temporarily impanted electrodes (much like when you first get your ears pierced). you wear it for four days, which is considered one ‘treatment’ ; you can get repeated 4-day treatments. the concept is to retrain the brain (by producing its own endorphins) to change or decrease the pain response; hopefully requiring less frequent treatments over time & decreased med doses.
Thanks for posting this! I just found several videos for the PSTEM on YouTube. It works by stimulating accupuncture points on the ear. I am definitely going to ask my pain doctor about trying one!

I just had a new neurologist suggest auricular acupuncture after drug treatments not working very well. I wanted something that had little risk of making the condition worse. But he had no specific practitioners to refer me to (?!). I live in NW New Jersey, 12 miles from Manhattan.
Did you ever go for the treatment? Or did your pain doctor dissuade you?
Does anuyone out there have experience with this modality? Does anyone have a recommendation?
I have a PNS ( peripheral nerve stimulator) implant for TN2 pain. Works very well, and I am med free!
i would imagine most acupuncturists know how to do auricular acupuncture. I had a few treatments & did help quite a bit. I just couldn’t afford to keep going
