Ear pain or ear sensation?

Any one out there experience any sensation in their ears. Several years ago I went in to my doctor because I was consistently feeling like something was running in my left ear, not a noise but felt like a fluid or a draining sensation. He sent me to two different Ears/Nose/Throat doctors. They found nothing wrong with my ear.

So I learned to live with it, from time to time it would do it.

Now I have Type 2 TN, found this out after months of pain, now on top of TN I am taking blood pressure meds, meds for anxiety and now steroids because I went to doctor last week for a cough and told him my throat and tongue felt like they were swelling up after a long day of coughing and working the phones at work, (I talk on the phone an average of 7-8 hours daily) in a customer service center.

Now the ear thing has really kicked in, its a constant flowing feeling.

I am really wondering is all this connected to my TN or is there something else really going on up there as well.

Now on top of that next month I am scheduled to have two wisdom teeth surgically removed, not because they are aching, just breaking off, and my doctors said they can't even think of reducing my TN seizure meds until I keep that apt and get them out.

Any thoughts on any of this. I could really use your help. Now my family doctor who has been treating me for this is leaving my area, moving out of state. I live in upstate, way upstate NY and need to find another doctor.

Look at our recommended doctors list on here.

and I found this:

Glossopharyngeal neuralgia exhibits symptoms that are quite similar to trigeminal neuralgia but originates from the glossopharyngeal nerve--the primary nerve cluster that serves the ears, throat, tongue and jaw.

You may have to travel out of your area to get the best if you can.

Keep Searching and Asking!

Thanks KC: I did read up on this, not exactly what I am feeling, hey but thanks.... I do have an upcoming apt in September in Cooperstown NY, to a specialist. Thanks again

See this discussion as well, and the answer is yes.

PDibbs.. I was just diagnosed with TN this week after attack this past weekend. But this last attack with the normal shocks to the top of my skull and around my right eye and cheek.. I was having severe ear pain which unlink the shocks which came and go. the ear pain was mostly constant and even when I swallowed on the right had side of my throat and tounge were very painful and I couldn't hardly swallow fluids nor eat when this was going on. to you question about fluid.. I have noticed the past 6 months that I feel as if there is water in my ear. I even order one of those vacume things on TV.. and I could never get any moisture to come out of my ear. When I was in the hosital this week when the attack was still happening.. the looked and there was no infection in the right ear so I don't know. I am not sure if this is similar to what you are experencing.. but with Kc... it sounds like Glossopharyngeal neuralgia. I need to discuss this on my next appt. it sounds like it a different nerve than the TN so it has me concerned why both will attack at the same time.. Good luck Pdibbs.. I will look out for your post.

I have simular problems but my doc says the same thing you say but I think they are related somehow the nerves in our face controls so much I think it is a side effect of the TN at least that is how I look at it

what stumped the doctor at the emergency room was the TN nerve and the Glossopharyngeal are separate.. but I was clearly having symptoms of both issues at the same time. I have a appt with a neurologist later next week. I assume I will give my my symptoms and will just go from there. so they may some how effect each other.. I guess I will find out.

Hi

I am just a newbie but I have type2 NT as well and I suffer with a lot of ear pain. The best way to explain is it is deep within my inner ear and I tend to want to rip my ear out at times the pain is horrible (though not a sharp zapping pain at all more a heavy severe ache?).

I have also had two of my wisdom teeth out which was what brought on an attack (still not to sure what to call it).

so I would stay on the meds. I was not diagnosed untill that attack and I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time so the only meds I could take was panadine forte.

I hope it all goes well for you :)
