Dr Alksne, Neurosurgeon in San Diego, CA

I had MVD after 8 years of TN, with DR. Alksne at Thornton hospital, UCSD San Diego, CA.

Dr. Alskne is specialized with TN. I knew he was my surgeon after meeting him the first time.

My TN didn't improve until many months after the surgery. I am now on 1/5 of the total medicine dose before MVD and only feel tingling sometimes.

Thanks so much… I wanted to point this to somebody who needs to consider california!

We gotta pay it forward : )

That’s fantastic news! Always great to share success stories and good doc recommendations!

Thank you KC

that was the guy i looked at first, but he was not on my insurance. i got dr k. ott, and he did the job!

did you have MVD done with Dr. Ott? I talked to Dr. Ott too, but he hasn't done MVD as much as Dr. Alksne, and he actually recommended me to do Glycerol Injection, and not MVD since MVD is so intensive and not his specialty(I think). But I am glad I had MVD done since glycerol injection is only temporary. I am praying for my condition to stay this way forever.

yea ott has done lots of them, mine included. i was his first csf leak though ;-]. he is big in gamma knife also i think. but i told him i was only interested in mvd, so he might have steered the conversation that way when i first talked to him. my recovery sucked, but that was not on him, just the way my body responded.

ott's also know for tumors i guess. all the nurses in the icu at sharp knew who he was and told me how lucky i was to have him. but at the same time none really knew what tn was ;-]
