Did you have mvd surgery? please read

Hi Connie

Yes I had a 'funny ear' too. Sounded like I could hear my heart beat loudly but only when I breathed out. Most peculiar when I focused on it but not really an issue. It settled down after a few months.

No doctors asked questions about my hearing after the surgery oddly enough.

How are you feeling now????? We would all love to know.

Bobby

I had my MVD about 8 weeks ago. I woke up with a headache and a sore ear but my TN pain was completely gone. The surgeon found an artery cutting a groove in the nerve and put in Teflon padding. He said it was not the artery they usually find but was rather large and starting to cause a great deal of damage. I had some nausea and had trouble eating for a few weeks after surgery, but all of this was minor compared to the TN pain. Apparently the ear thing is common. I can live with it until it heals. The halo pain is also common, but I found that Ibuprofen was just as effective as the narcotive pain killers and caused less nausea.

You will need lots of help when you get home because you won't be able to do much. Make sure you rest even when you start to feel better. I had some trouble sleeping in a bed at first because of the incision and ear pain. I never could find the right pillow. I also found sleeping in a recliner more comfortable than a bed.

It was definitely worth having the MVD. I think once you reach the point where the TN pain is unbearable, the fear of living in pain outweighs the fear of surgery. I wish you the best and hope you have as wonderful an outcome as I experienced.
