CSF Leakage after MVD Surgery

Hi,
I have just been diagnosed with Geniculate Neuralgia and Dr Patel is my neurosurgeon. I have an MRI with and without contrast scheduled for 10/10/14. If MVD is an option for me, I think that is the way I would like to go, since it seems to be the most effective. If you don’t mind, can you please let me know how your experience was with Dr Patel?

Thanks. Dreading it but I really have no choice. My next big day is Sept. 26th. I’ll let ya’ll (that’s southern for you all) how it goes. My neurosurgeon is Dr. Sunil Patel and I really like him. I think he’s done his best but I really think the first doc did a botched job and he’s just trying to fix someone else’s mistake. The first surgeon just kept telling me it would reabsorb into my body and one day that spot would be flat as a pancake. I listened to that nonsense for about 6 months before I finally got an appt.with Dr. Patel. After one look Dr. Patel said it would never go down on it’s on. Just praying this next surgery is the last.

Cathy,
Dr. Patel is my neurosurgeon also. I have an MRI scheduled on 10/10/14, followed by an appt with him. Did you have MVD surgery by him?

Thank you in advance,
Danielle

Kim: I am so happy you went with Dr. Patel. He is really awesome. The surgeries he has performed for me were a cake walk compared to my first. I am not saying you will not have pain. You won’t remember the first day at all but then after that the pain was definitely manageable. I never got sick to my stomach and I had excellent care at MUSC. If you need anything while you are there you can call me. Is there a way I can privately send you my cell #? Praying that all goes well for you and that you find immediate relief. Do know that when they mess with the nerves in your brain that sometimes you will have some strange feelings as the nerves heal (numbness, tingling, little shooting pains).

Take care.

Cathy
