It’s starting to get warm here (65), so yesterday I rode my bike with my husband. We had a great time until…the wind from riding got to me. My ear and my teeth were awful the whole rest of the night. Any suggestions on how to guard them?
I’m from Canada and I often use what we call a “Buff” when I go out in the winter. They come in fun patterns and you can pull them up over your ears and mouth. They’re often a nice light material too so they wouldn’t be too hot and would fit under a helmet. Would something like that work?
Right now I am working on a prototype for the very problem you have a need for. It involves the use of a clear umbrella with extra clear vinyl sewed around the edges to give more wind protection. Still have the situation of what to do woth the umbrella handle. Can’t hold it while riding, so trying to think of a safe way to connect it in order to make it hands free. Of course this is not for racing, obviously. Just for a pleasurable bike ride. The umbrella can also be used for walks, being out on the patio, etc. anybody have ideas on how to make a working prototype?
That is an excellent idea. I have more problems with wind that anything right now, so that this plastic would work. I may work on something onto a baseball cap, or some cap of some sort to help. It’s getting warmer here right now, so I may not need it right now. I’ll keep in touch.
If possible, post a picture. I was at the fabric store today for something else and later remembered that I should have bought vinyl. Unh! I think I’m going to do something with velcro to hold extra length onto the bottom of the umbrella. It won’t work for bicycling, but your idea of a baseball cap very likely will.
