Clear MRI Scan

After my MVD in 2007 my TN stayed away for 2 years it came back in 2009. My MRI scan is clear though. It was not last time the consultant could see the compression. What does this mean, I know I have the pain of TN why does the scan not show anything. Cn anyone help. Margaret
