It is a fact TN can be caused by upper cervical and skull bone deformormities or injuries. And yet this new science. Had a neurosurgeons office tell me it was impossible refused me the mri of my neck I asked for. I got the mri a couple months later and it showed compressions right where I told them it would be.
The trigeminal nuculus in the brain stem and the brain stem being compressed is a rare cause granted. But after 45 years I believe science is finally catching up with me. If you have no other known cause it bears looking into cervocogenic causes.
It could be a missing link to explain many with unknown causes.
There is an article highlighted about just this subject. Under the TN basics tab at the top you will find it--Cervicogenic model. There have also been some pretty lengthy convos about this on here lately. It is something that I am very interested in learning more about and I have talked with members that are being helped by upper cervical or NUCCA chiros. Also some Osteopaths offer cranial therapy.
I am convinced that my TN is connected to my neck. Physio for a neck problem helps my facial pain as well. All of my MRI/MRAs have been normal except for a bulging disc.
Anyways, follow your instincts, learn as much as you can and keep pushing the limits!
What was your symptoms? besides TN?
Well I have a rare condition that causes bone deformities and while reading on what it is doing to my neck is what set me on this path. I also have GN and ON is recently started.
