Hey everyone. I have been going some research on CBG vs CBD oil ( just heard about CBG for the first time today). They say that it has “neuroprotective properties” Has anyone heard of this?
Yes Amanda, I have heard about this.
Cannabis has many active ingredients, known as cannabinoids. Both CBG and CBD are cannabinoids along with THC. The THC has a psychoactive effect, It’s the part that gets you ‘stoned’ but neither the CBD or CBG have psychoactive effect, but rather “neuroprotective properties”. It is not completely known nor understood how the differing cannabinoids work in combination with each other to produce the beneficial effects. They are currently separating individual cannabinoids such as CBD and CBG but by separating the individual components they lose some of what is known as the ‘Entourage Effect’ or the interaction between all of the other cannabinoids that ‘whole plant cannabis’ contains.
The science behind cannabis has been heavily restricted until very recently, so the science is now trying to play catch up. It’s also not fully understood why for some people the benefits can be many and yet for others they can be of little to no benefit. It truly can be a case of trial and error to find which ‘maybe’ of benefit to you.
